- Forward Incoming Messages -

JoMail can be configured in a number of different ways to forward email automatically whenever messages are downloaded. This can be useful if you want to get your email into another program or simply to check it with another account

There are 2 main methods of forwarding email:

Forwarding Mode

JoMail comes equipped with a special "Forwarding Mode" which is designed to allow easy on and easy off of email forwarding. This feature allows the most flexibility for users who don't want their email forwarded all the time. "Forwarding Mode" allows right-click enabling and disabling.

When "Forwarding Mode" is enabled, any service which checks for email on a time interval will automatically download and forward new messages, provided that forwarding it turned on for that service. Before Forwarding Mode can be used, you must configure JoMail. Please see instructions below for the necessary setup. There are two ways to turn forwarding mode on and off in the main part of the program:

  1. Right-click on the folder corresponding to the service which has forwarding setup. An option will allow you to toggle forwarding on and off for individual services.
  2. Click Options->Forwarding Mode. This option will turn forwarding on for all services with forwarding setup. Select the option again and it will disable forwarding for all services with forwarding setup.

Always on Forwarding

This option is used if you would like to forward all email that comes into an account to another email address. Follow these steps to turn forwarding on:

  1. Click on the Options menu at the top of JoMail.
  2. Select Add/Edit Email Accounts. This should open a window for you.
  3. Select the service which you want to configure. Click the Advanced button.
  4. Select the Forward Incoming Messages option.
  5. Specify an email address. **See NOTE.
  6. Click Save.

NOTE: You must specify an email addresses otherwise there will be nothing to forward to.

This is the extent of the setup. Download some email and watch to make sure that messages are forwarded.

Automatic Downloading and Forwarding

If Automatic Downloading is enabled with forwarding, JoMail will automatically download and forward any new email messages in your account. This options works in conjunction with checking for messages every minute or so. This is also similar to the type of setup you will get if you use the Forwarding Mode. See Automatic Downloading for more information.

Quick on Forwarding

This is the most flexible version of forwarding in JoMail. If you want to be able to turn forwarding on and off easily, you will need to configure JoMail for this type of forwarding. There really is only one thing more that you will need to setup here after turning forwarding on.

  1. Follow the instructions above to turn forwarding on.
  2. Select the Only Forward in "Forward Mode" option.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Click Done.
  5. Select a time interval next to Automatically check for new messages. You must specify a time interval which you would like to check messages on.
  6. Click Save.

--Only Forward in "Forward Mode" means that the only time JoMail will forward email for a service, is when Forwarding Mode has been turned on for that service. Please see above for methods used to turn forwarding on (and off). If you have normal "Always on" forwarding turned on and enable Forwarding Mode, this will cause JoMail to automatically download any new messages and then forward them.

NOTE:If you have Auto Downloading of messages turned on, then JoMail will behave just like it is in Forwarding Mode -- however, turned Forwarding Mode on an off will not change whether or not messages are downloaded.

This option is selected by default. Some attachments can be rather large. It takes JoMail a little longer to check messages for attachments. If you don't want to receive attachments or would like to make JoMail retreive your messages faster, un-check this option and Save.
